In the Russian army on the basis of military districts and fleets it is planned to establish four strategic commands (OSK), Interfax reported.
OSK will be created on the main strategic directions and will be referred to as West, North, South and East.

The headquarters of the OSK West will be located in St. Petersburg. Command will be established on the basis of Moscow and Leningrad military districts and the Baltic Fleet.

OSK North will include a partial Siberian Military District, the Northern Fleet and a part of the Volga-Urals Military District. Command headquarters to be established in Ekaterinburg.

Another part of the Volga-Ural military district will enter OSK South. In addition, this command will be established on the basis of the North Caucasus Military District, the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla. Staff - in Rostov-on-Don.

OSK East will unite the Far Eastern Military District and the Pacific Fleet, as well as a number of compounds of the Siberian Military District. The headquarters will be based in Khabarovsk.

It is expected that the Operational-Strategic Commands in the Armed Forces will be established by December 2010.
